Are You Ready for Football Season?!!
5A: Southlake Carroll vs. Fort Bend Hightower
After a much disputed win over Skyline, the Southlake Carroll Dragons were headed into Cowboy stadium looking for their 8th state championship against a formidable Fort Bend Hightower team. The game remained close through the first three quarters with Hightower boasting a 16-14 lead at the half. The Dragons were able to close things out with a touchdown run from QB Kenny Hill in the 4th giving them the 36-29 lead.  Southlake Carroll ended their season with an outstanding 16-0 record.
4A division 2: Aledo vs. Manvel
If you haven’t already heard about Aledo senior RB Johnathan Gray, don’t worry because you’ll be hearing his name for years to come.  Gray rushed for 241 yards in the state championship game not only propelling his team to their 3rd straight title but breaking the national record for career touchdowns in the process. Gray finished his high school career with 205 touchdowns. The Aledo Bearcats won the game 49-28.
3A: Argyle vs. Wimberley
Before walking onto the field at Cowboy Stadium, Argyle’s lone loss had come against Prosper the week before district play commenced. Since then the Argyle Eagles had overcome some tough opponents, including defeating Prosper 40-24 in the area round of the playoffs. Argyle was able to get the first points on the board with a Cole Hedlund field goal, but Wimberley proved to be a resilient team. Trinity Wilson had a 76 yard touchdown run in the fourth extending Wimberley’s lead and eventually giving them the 21-14 win.
