Bump, Set, Spike!
The Lady Mustangs at Grapevine High School have a lot to be proud of. As the reigning district 6-5A volleyball champions, the Lady Mustangs have a big target on their back.

With just one district loss this season, the Lady Mustangs have pretty much already clinched the 6-5A district title for a 2nd year in a row. Their one district loss came earlier in the season against Richland. Since then the team has matured tremendously and is looking even better than they did last year.

After beating district rival Colleyville Heritage last week they solidified their spot at the top of 6-5A and have a pretty easy schedule heading into the playoffs.

I had a chance to talk to seniors Tanna Aijoe and Sydney Braasch of the Lady Mustangs this week on The Home Team DFW about heading into the post-season and wrapping up their time at Grapevine.

State Championship Recap
Lucas Lovejoy, Richardson Pearce, McKinney Boyd and Coppell all represented the DFW area at the UIL State Championships at Texas State University. Which of your favorite teams earned that coveted trophy?
5A: McKinney Boyd vs. Coppell
Fans poured into Texas State to watch the ladies from Boyd and Coppell face off. Coppell came out winning the first two games 25-22 and 25-19 respectively. McKinney Boyd looked like they were staging a comeback with a 25-20 victory in game three but Coppell stood their ground and managed to win the match 3-1.
4A: Austin Lake Travis vs. Richardson Pearce
Last season’s state runner up Richardson Pearce took on Austin Lake Travis for the 4A state match. The ladies at Pearce got off to a slow start and Lake Travis capitalized quickly. Lake Travis went on to win the match in three straight sets.
3A: Abilene Wylie vs. Lucas Lovejoy
The Lovejoy Leopards were looking to do what no other Volleyball team in 3A has ever been able to do; win 4 consecutive state championships. With just one loss this season the Leopards were looking to put away Abilene Wylie quickly, Wylie was able to hold their on taking Lovejoy down to the wire but the Leopards proved to be too much and won their 4th straight title 3-2!
